I Need a Favor

I’m a big Quentin Tarantino fan and I think all of his movies are great, so this may be disqualify me from recommending something of his. Jackie Brown is a movie I’m less willing to recommend than, say, Pulp Fiction or even Tarantino’s newer flicks. It’s one of my favorite, but it’s also one that’s more difficult to appreciate. Like all Tarantino movies, it’s dialogue-heavy and, unlike most Tarantino movies, it’s not completely focused on violence. But this last aspect makes it unique, and it actually makes me like Jackie Brown much more.

The scene above is one of the most memorable. The other one I can think of is when Louis Gara (Robert De Niro) kills Melanie (Bridget Fonda).

Now that were on the topic of Tarantino movies, I used to rank my two favorite movies of his Pulp Fiction and then Jackie Brown. I recently re-watched both Kill Bill movies and I think they take Jackie Brown‘s place.

I’ve read about True Romance, but for some reason I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll have to follow your advice and watch it. I do enjoy Gary Oldman’s acting, although I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that it’s largely thanks to the Batman trilogy that I’ve explored his other work, I’ll have to check out Salton Sea. In style of movie, how does it compare to, say, Basic Instinct?
