Private Defense in an Anarchic Society

Great discussion between Robert Murphy and I on private defense in an anarchic society. He is a natural rightist, and I take a praxeological approach to the subject. Continue reading

Passion as a Liberty

Entrepreneurship is an extension of the process of rationalization, and is a characteristic innate in the human spirit. Government can only serve to hinder the entrepreneur from finding opportunities to invest and create wealth. As a result, government contributes a net loss to wealth creation. Continue reading

In Search of that Mythical Free-Market Road Network

There may be many things that the private sector can do better than the State, but roads will always be a public good. A free-market road network would only exist in a world of fantasy. omeone should make this fact aware to the people of El Provencio, a small town in the province of Cuenca (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain). It would not be news to mention that Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe spearheaded land redistribution in that country to expropriate land from the whites to set up communal farms. The South African government had slowly undertaken a similar process, by buying white land and giving it to black South Africans. These land redistribution schemes promise widespread destruction of wealth and possibly economic crisis. Continue reading

Restoring Prosperity to Zimbabwe

In the midst of increasing socialization in Zimbabwe and spiraling poverty, there are many who still believe that the answer to the country’s woes is greater centralization of the economy. The truth is that Zimbabwe does not need greater centralization and the foundations of a solution to prosperity are not specific to deregulation, although economic liberty is a keystone to any developing economy. The answer to Zimbabwe’s problems lies in the guarantee of property rights. Continue reading
